Smoked Bites

About

15 years ago Stan Kotlyar, owner-pit master, an immigrant of the former Soviet Union, joined the ranks of the strongly observant orthodox Jewish community. As such he found the kosher food scene greatly lacking in the breadth and depth of culinary diversity he was accustomed to. As such, he began a quest to "kosherize" his favorite foods by replacing the non-kosher components with kosher alternatives, resulting in success with many of his past favorites. As he delved in to the world of culinary intrigue, he found himself fascinated with barbecue and smoked cuisine. Having established his confidence in this style of cookery, he entered competitions around the United States especially in the known capitols of smoked meats such as Dallas, Texas and Kansas City, Kansas, and succeeded to garner many first place prizes for his brisket, chicken etc even thought the competition featured some top names in kosher barbecue.

When Stan was made privy to the availability of the former Sender's Smoke Joint, he jumped at the opportunity to bring his passion for fine dining in his field of expertise and share his unique style with all who enjoy good American style barbecue with a slight French twist on some of the side dishes.

Stan then asked one of his closest friends, a "foodie" in his own right, to collaborate with him an add a fresh approach to cured meats and desserts. This conglomeration, fondly known among close friends as "The Kosher Kooks" (you'll have to visit to understand why), has resulted in the creation of an eclectic menu of uniquely American style barbecue with some French accents and strong Italian influences,

So...we cordially and enthusiastically invite you to enjoy something uniquely different. Come over and visit us in the freshly designed and refurbished (by the very talented and imaginative Mrs. Kotlyar) eatery now known as Smoked Bites at 190 West Englewood Avenue, Teaneck, NJ. If you find it inconvenient to visit in person, we can either accept your phone orders for delivery through our website or through DoorDash, Grubhub or Ubereats.
